My style and the style inspiration for my store came from my fascination (being Canadian), with the different facets of Americana and how style could represent and sum up an entire genre of American so perfectly. My style, as I go back through and look, is kind of like an exploration through all of these genres and trying for a moment to live vicariously through all the lifestyles that America has bred over the years.
There's the "tacky American tourist" that I am inspired to absorb a lot more of (more fanny packs!), there's the Walmart American (or you could just call them the 'trailer trash' or 'britney/lindsay chic' American). Then there's the rockers, hippies, the angsty teenagers, artsy teenagers, the NY hipsters, the LA roof pool party girls, the country girls... and when I really have the time, I'll go all out and put some effort into looking a bit like an old american movie star from hollywoods golden age! I also want to venture into the style of the American mom (ie. mom jeans and mom shorts and anything you can order from the jcrew catalogue)
So I've gone through all of my outfits over the past few months and have literally summed them up into all of those categories above. I have not done anything international, or french-inspired, or avante-garde really. I've just really enjoyed soaking in the American culture while I've been here. I am Canadian, and proud, but I blood love America and always have! Here is my take on ya'all! And There's a hundred pictures here so... 100 insights into my perfect Americana!
